Skodz ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data. By using the Skodz app or website, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

Account information: When you register, we collect your full name, email address, phone number, and country. Barbers additionally provide ID documents for verification.

Profile information: Profile photos, location (city/state), hair type preferences, and any other details you choose to add.

Booking data: Details of bookings you make or receive, including style, date, time, price, and service type.

Payment data: We do not store full card details. Payments are processed by Flutterwave or Paystack; we only store transaction references, amounts, and statuses.

Usage data: App interactions, search queries, session durations, and device information (OS, app version, device type).

Communications: Messages exchanged within the app, reviews, and support conversations.

2. How We Use Your Information

To create and manage your account.
To facilitate and confirm bookings between customers and Barbers.
To process payments and send receipts.
To personalise style recommendations and search results.
To send booking reminders, haircare cycle nudges, and important service updates.
To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and platform violations.
To comply with legal obligations.
To improve the Skodz platform through aggregate analytics (no individual profiling for advertising).

3. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with:

Barbers: Your name and contact details are shared with a Barber upon confirming a booking.
Payment processors: Paystack receives billing information necessary to process transactions.
Cloud infrastructure: We use Supabase for database storage and Railway for hosting. Both are bound by strict data processing agreements.
Legal authorities: If required by law or to protect rights, safety, or property.

4. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active, plus an additional period to satisfy legal and regulatory requirements (typically 5 years for financial records). You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time from within the app (Profile → Delete Account) or by emailing privacy@skodz.com.

5. Cookies and Tracking

The Skodz mobile app does not use browser cookies. The landing website uses minimal, functional cookies to improve page performance. We do not use tracking cookies for advertising purposes.

6. Push Notifications

We use push notifications to send booking updates, payment confirmations, and reminders. You can opt out of non-essential notifications at any time in your device settings or within the Skodz app (Profile → Notification Settings).

7. Security

We employ industry-standard security measures including HTTPS/TLS encryption in transit, bcrypt password hashing, row-level security on all database tables, and regular security audits. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we encourage you to use a strong, unique password.

8. Children's Privacy

Skodz is not intended for users under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has registered, please contact us and we will promptly delete the account.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you.
Request correction of inaccurate data.
Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten").
Object to or restrict certain processing.
Port your data to another provider.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you in-app. Continued use of Skodz after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
